Facts about Ornithophobia
Ornithophobia as any other animal phobia are highly prevalent - studies indicate that about forty per cent of people with a specific phobia are animal phobics. Among this group, by far the most common animal causes of phobic fears are bugs (insects and spiders), snakes, mice and bats, making these the most prevalent of all phobias. (Most readers will, for example, be able to think of at least one person among their family and friends who has a strong aversion to, or fear of, spiders, which may, in some cases, be severe enough to be classed as phobic.)
Animal phobias (particularly the bugs, snakes, mice and bats category), appear to be somewhat more common in women than in men and they arise in early childhood, with the mean age of first appearance being around seven years.
