Musophobia (Muriphobia)

What is Musophobia?

Musophobia - Fear of mice.

Treatment of Musophobia

It is evident that a phobic person first needs to become comfortable in the company of quiet and well behaved mice in order for fear to diminish. Once this has been achieved, the person is better placed to cope with chance encounters with mice. He can, for example, learn to either ignore him completely or only approach a stranger if they are friendly and sociable. More alarming encounters almost always take the form of a mice fearful.

Experiencing a direct physical attack by a mice is fortunately not common but, as the phobic person may have already discovered, it cannot ever be entirely ruled out. The aim of treatment should be to enable the phobic person to cope with ordinary, everyday encounters with mice with little or no anxiety. Being taught to understand the behaviour of mice and how to modify his own behaviour if necessary, lessens the risk of an unpleasant experience and gives the person increased confidence.
