- Vascular dementia causes due to damage of vascular system which can not provide sufficient amount of blood supply to the brain cells.
- vascular dementia cause to the cortical and subcortical damage to the brain.
- VD causes due to thickening and hardening of the walls of vessels and narrowing of the lumen of the vessels which can leads in a reduction of blood flow to brain area supplied by the affected artery.
- VD also causes due to accumulation of cholesterol.
- Radiation therapy to the head leads to vascular dementia.

The doctors select different test according to the different risk factors. It help to find out the abnormalities of the brain's blood vessel.
-
Magnetic resonance imaging - In this technology radio waves are used to produce the image. It is also painless technology. It produce noise at the time of operation. Contract material is used to produce more clear image.
-
Doppler ultrasound - In this doppler ultrasound technology high frequency sound waves are used to measure the direction and speed of blood cell which are travels inside the blood vessels. It help to find out the blockage of blood vessels in brain.
-
Neuropsychological Test - The neuropsychological tests take little minutes. These exams help to test orientation, recall, attention, calculation and language
