The Use of Attachment-based Therapy for Children with Mental Disorders

Benefit from restraints

The process of attachment-based therapy is often used on children who have mental disorders like ADHD or autism. This is a form of therapy where restraint is used. This is where a child must be restrained from things that one wants out of life. This is often used as a means of creating pain and discomfort in a child. However, the frustration and anger that comes from it may help with the treatment of mental disorders because it allows a child to understand how emotions should be controlled.

This works with many controls in mind. Rebirthing is a process of attachment-based therapy that involves being wrapped in a sheet, lying in the floor and adults leaning on the child. This is used as a means of experiencing a rebirth and attachment to a mother through the pain of rebirthing.

Holding therapy is also used. This involves shaking the child, insulting the child and having the child become more attached to a mother or father with the intention of being more obedient to that parent.

Proper attention

The big point about attachment-based therapy is that it will help to get a child to become more obedient. This is often something that is difficult to control with children who have ADHD or autism. The frustration and anger that are created out of attachment-based therapy will be used as a means of helping to control a child’s emotions to the point where the child will have an easier time understanding how different functions may work in life and how different kinds of things are approved or disapproved depending on what a child is doing.

Risks involved

There are some physical risks that may be involved. There are many cases where a child could be severely harmed. This is especially the case with rebirthing. The pressure imposed on the child may be difficult.

Sometimes crying or laughing
are the only options left,
and laughing feels better right now.
