What is Acephalgic Migraine?

Acephalgic Migraine is also known as Silent Migraine, eye migraine .Acephalgic migraine means a migraine without headache. It is a neurological syndrome.It normally presents as a visual aura. The symptoms generally spreads over 20-30 minutes.Five percent of migraine headaches come under this category.

Four important phases of a migraine attack

  • Prodrome
  • Aura
  • Headache
  • Postdrome

Symptoms of Acephalgic Migraine

  • Seeing zig zags or flashing lights
  • Scintillating scotoma
  • Inability to speak
  • Vomiting
  • Partial loss of vision

How to treat Acephalgic Migraine?

  • Give medicines which include NSAIDs, antinausea medications, Midrin, ergotamines the triptans.
  • Asprin should be given for the treatment of Acephalgic Migraine.
