How to treat razor burns

     

What Is Razor Burns?

Razor burn is a general problem faced by equally men and women. Razor burn is typically a frustration of the skin source by shaving with a razor. Razor burns as well comprised nicks and cuts that happen during shaving. Several a times razor burns may be come with by 'razor bumps', in which case the area about the shaved hair gets a raised welt or infected pustule. Mostly cause of razor burns are excessive use of after-shaves and colognes or frequent shaving.

Symptoms of razor burns

  • Redness of the skin
  • Bumps on the affected area
  • Irritation in the skin
  • Burning feeling on the freshly shaved area
  • Chafed skin

Prevent for razor burns

  • Avoid too much  use of after-shaves and colognes
  • Do not applying too much pressure as shaving
  • Do not shaving in the opposite direction to hair growth
  • Do not use disposable razors
  • Using a proper lubricant while shaving
  • Do not using shaving products with synthetic dyes, fragrances and alcohol

Home remedy for razor burns

  • You should be applying pat the area with apple cider vinegar to treat razor burn at home.
  • Take a tsp of sour cream, mix the pulp of 2 strawberries and form a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area, as a mask, for about 10 minutes. After that, wash the area using lukewarm water. do again this twice a week.
  • Use aloe vera oil it is helpful in curing razor burns. Dab the shaved area with cotton ball that has been soaked in the oil.
  • Potato is efficient in treating razor burns. Cut down slice of potato and peel the skin of a potato. Apply this over the affected area.
  • For relief from razor burns applying petroleum jelly over the affected area three times a day.
  • Ahead of shaving, moisten the area with a wash cloth, dipped in hot water (added with lavender essential oil). Stroke the skin several times with this. Now, apply a thin layer of moisturizing oil, like avocado or jojoba. It is helpful you avoid razor burns and also make shaving an easy process.
  • Add 1 tbsp each of dried comfrey leaves and dried calendula flowers in 1/2 cup of witch hazel extract and keep it for 2 weeks. Store this lotion and use it when razor burns happen. It frequently lasts for about 6 months.
  • Take ¼ cup of rose water, mix ¼ cup of strained witch hazel. In this, mix 1/4 tsp vegetable glycerin, along with 5 drops each of lavender essential oil and sandalwood essential oil. Apply  it on the affected area. Stock up it in a cool place and shake it each time before use. This is good home remedy to heal razor burns.

Tips for razor burns

  • Confirm your blade is clean and sharp.
  • Do shaving in slow, small strokes tapping the razor under hot water to clean it between every stroke. A blade full of hair won't sit evenly against the skin.
  • Never share razors.
  • Stop using  a bent or rusted razor.
  • After shaving apply lotion or gel made by aleo vera.
