The goiter is also known as goiter bronchocele. In Latin it is called as BrE, AmE and struma. The goiter is enlargement in thyroid gland. The iodine is required for the combination of thyroid hormones thyroxin.
Types of goitre
Following are types of goitre:
- Diffuse goitre – The diffuse goitre is increase by whole thyroid.
- Toxic goitre – The toxic goitre pass on to goitre by hyperthyroidism. This created due to graves disease but reason is swelling goitre.
- Nontoxic goitre – The nontoxic goitre pass on to all remaining categories and reason by lithium.
- Endemic goitre – In this total group is artificial by inadequate dietary iodine. The usual cause is soil in which foods are increases iodine depleted. In some area of Australia, Tasmania has small iodine range in the soil.
- Sporadic goitre – These simply personally is artificial in sporadic goitre. Some family history, diet, after 40 years age, it happens.
Some causes of goitre

- Emotional upsets
- Depression
- Irritability
- Puberty
- Pregnancy
- Inadequate iodine in the diet
- Big use of definite foods which neutralize iodine like cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli

- Drugs like phenylbutazone and lithium
- Thyroid cancer
