What is Progressive supranuclear palsy?

Progressive supranuclear palsy is one type of cerebral degenerative disease. It is also called as simply PSP disease. PSP was first discovered by Dr J. Clifford Richardson in year 1950. It is mainly affecting brain. Progressive supranuclear palsy is an uncommon brain disorder that causes serious permanent problems with control of walk and balance.

Causes of Progressive supranuclear palsy

  • Progressive supranuclear palsy is mainly caused by slowly deterioration of brain cells.
  • Sometimes, genetic mutation is also responsible for generating Progressive supranuclear palsy.
  • Progressive supranuclear palsy is as well caused by environmental chemicals factors.
  • Brain disorder is the major cause of PSP.

What are the different symptoms of PSP?

There are several signs and symptoms occurs in Progressive supranuclear palsy;

  • Difficulty in swallowing

  • Rigidity of face
  • Faint vision
  • Disturbed upright look
