Experienced in working with women, children, men, couples, families and agencies, Connie has a certificate from U of T in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy as well as training in CBT, concurrent disorders, mindfulness/meditation, solution focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, emotion focused interventions, narrative therapy, experiential therapies and addiction treatment. Connie is also an Assistant Clinical Professor (Adjunct) with McMaster’s Department of Family Medicine teaching Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences.
Dr. Gilleta provides both brief therapy and long-term depth psychotherapy, integrating evidenced-based techniques in a sensitive manner that fits with where clients are in the change process. Her primary therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic. Dr. Gilleta works with adult clients on an individual basis.
I have particular skill to work with multihome and blended families. I am trained in Family Mediation related to separation/divorce, parenting plans, custody/access, estrangement, and family reconciliation. I conduct professional assessments and make recommendations for custody/access, as well as children’s views. Assessments are thorough and professional.

I am a Registered Play Therapist with the Association for Play Therapy. Play therapy is an effective, clinically proven tool used in counseling with children to help work though problems that are difficult to talk about. Examples of some issues are depression, self-esteem, school issues, anger, and trauma.
I am trained in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Filial Family Play Therapy among others. I have presented internationally on Culturally Competent Play Therapy using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, and CCPT.
