In my practice, I look to build a strong and trusting rapport with clients. We are then able to work together on identifying potential sources of life stressors as well as strengths. Throughout that process, I assist clients in developing an understanding of their interactions with others. In exploring these areas, clients are then able to identify and modify previous patterns of behavior in order to achieve their full potential personally, academically, and/or vocationally.

After having interned at a substance abuse treatment facility for two years, I served as the coordinator for an adolescent substance abuse program. I became very comfortable working with individuals struggling with the emotional impact of substance abuse as well as the difficulties surrounding maintaining one’s recovery.

Through my experience working with adolescents, adults, and families, I understand that problems may arise at any point in a person’s life, for any number of reasons. I work with individuals and families to improve family functioning and relationships, work and school success, as well as anxiety, depression, learning, and anger problems. Through your work with me, we will address the problems you are experiencing by exploring both how the issue first began, as well as what factors are contributing to maintaining it today.

In your first session with me, I will work with you to develop your therapeutic goals, and conduct a scientifically-based and thorough assessment that will help you gain a greater understanding of your concerns, as well the unique strengths you possess that will help you achieve your goals.

My approach to therapy relies on establishing a collaborative relationship with my patient(s) so that we can work together to identify the habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and acting that keep you from enjoying the quality of life you would like for yourself. I create a supportive environment that allows you the patient to talk openly without fear of judgment. By the time you leave therapy you will not only have solved the problem that brought you in, but you will take away a set of skills that will help you effectively cope with whatever challenges life may present in the future.

I specialize in working with trauma loss and grief across the development spectrum. I see patients as young as five years old whom I engage in play therapy, adolescents and adults. I also treat depression and anxiety disorders. I see individual couples and families.
I provide services in Spanish. I also see patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. I have developed some expertise in cross cultural issues.

I am a registered psychologist with experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I have used my extensive training to help clients improve their mood, self-esteem, coping skills, and relational functioning. I have worked with children and adults recovering from experiences of abuse and those wanting to stop the cycle of abuse. I am cognizant of cultural factors that impact all individuals and I have experience working with clients of various ethnic backgrounds.

My strong background in trauma, attachment, family systems and developmental needs enhances my work. I integrate CBT, Narrative, Solution Focused, Mindfullness, Play Therapy and other modalities. Together we will work from a strengths based perspective and will explore and remove obstacles to well-being. I often use creative means of expression to reach goals.

I bring a deep respect and appreciation for the uniqueness of each individual, attuned to their many strengths, hopes and dreams. Whether you are a parent concerned about your child, an adult seeking individual or marital counselling, or an individual seeking positive family changes, I will work with you collaboratively to achieve your goals.

Every child is unique and wants to do their best. This is a core belief of mine. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on the planet and as parents, we too, want to do and be our best. Unfortunately we sometimes face challenges with our children that feel overwhelming and get in the way of who we want to be as parents. Since a child cannot exist outside of their family, my work with children encompasses working with parents to best support the child and family as a whole.

If you’re looking for help to feel more connected to your child, improve your child’s listening and/or behaviour and overall strengthen your relationship with your child, I can help. I have spent my career working with children ranging from infants to school aged alongside their families.
For the past several years, I have been working in the area of infant and early childhood mental health. I use a play-based, attachment & trauma informed approach in therapy with children and parent-child therapy. I am a Registered Circle of Security Parent Educator.
