I am a Registered Play Therapist with the Association for Play Therapy. Play therapy is an effective, clinically proven tool used in counseling with children to help work though problems that are difficult to talk about. Examples of some issues are depression, self-esteem, school issues, anger, and trauma.
I am trained in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Filial Family Play Therapy among others. I have presented internationally on Culturally Competent Play Therapy using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, and CCPT.
My approach includes blending Eastern and Western somatic modalities with cognitive and trans-personal counselling psychology. With a strong focus on mindfulness, this process allows you to become aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations and how they manifest in your body. Somatic psychotherapy differs from traditional psychotherapy in that it explores and relies on the wisdom of the mind-body-spirit connection as a powerful gateway for healing, expanding awareness, and developing resilience.
I am a warm, seasoned, excellently-trained psychologist. I help individuals who are feeling unhappy in their lives, with themselves or with their relationships. My specialty area is helping people cope with chronic illness. I virtually always have a few clients with these challenges, while the majority of my clients struggle with other issues.
As a Professional Member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA), I have developed expertise in helping others cope with Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and subsequently, with other chronic illnesses (eg. Cancer; Diabetes, …). I’ve seen how pain can initiate growth, and ultimately, strength. This belief guides my practice and optimism.

My graduate and undergraduate studies in neuroscience informs my work, it helps me see how the interaction between psychological, biological, and societal factors impact an individual’s experience and perception of the world.
